Forging:-
Forging is a manufacturing process
where metal is pressed or Forged under great pressure into high strength
parts known as forgings.
Forged Components are shaped
by a Forging
Hammers. Forging on the Hammer is carried out in a succession of die
impressions using repeated Strokes. The quality of the
forging Components, and the economy and
productivity of the Forging process depend upon the tooling and the
skill of the operator.
The Forging Processes:-
There are various general processes of
forging like open die forging, forging through pressing, forging through
precision, upset forging, forging through the shape of a net and roll
forging. Thus, forging is very important as it produces various
materials of different shapes and sizes by Forging Hammer.
Open Die Forging:
Open
die forging with hammers and
presses is a modern-day extension of the pre-industrial metalsmith
working with a hammer at his anvil. As the forging components is
hammered, it is repeatedly manipulated between the dies until it reaches
final forged dimensions. Because the process is inexact and requires
considerable skill of the forging master, substantial Components stock
allowances are retained to accommodate forging irregularities. The
forged parts are rough machined and then finish machined to final
dimensions. The increasing use of press and hammer controls is making
open die forging, and all forging processes for that matter, more
automated. |
